When to Eat in Spain
Typically, after a long day of walking, we find our lodging for the night, change into a fresh set of feet, and head out for dinner, only to discover lunch is over and all the restaurants are closed. If we're Lucky, we can find one that opens at 7:30pm. Many don't open 'til 8:00pm, which pushes dinner (and our hungry stomachs) well into bed-time.
It didn't make any sense until I realized Spain is in the wrong time zone. Sunrise is at 7:30 and sunset is at 21:30 (9:30pm), which makes the "middle" of the daylight hours at 2:30pm when it's supposed to be noon. So instead of fixing the time zone, they just move dinner by 2-1/2 hours, so that 8:pm dinner is really 5:30pm, stomach time.
In spite of the time snafu, we managed to have some pretty good meals.
